Results: September 2005 Break Cue Speed Tests by Platinum Billiards
According to stroke robot comparison tests of break cues, independently conducted by www.PlatinumBilliards.com, the Stinger jumpbreak cue is the #1 USA made break cue, in terms of speed of break.
There were two Chinese break cues* that tested slightly faster. However, we believe the glass-based tip material** used by the Chinese cues is so hard that those cues are trading accuracy & control for a tiny speed gain. Speed without accuracy does not produce consistent results.
We believe a winning break is one that hits the rack with repeatable precision, so you can fine-tune your break to the table conditions. We have experimented with a wide variety of tip materials and tip hardnesses, and evolved the Stinger to be overall the most efficient and most accurate production jumpbreak on the market today.
It is also our experience that cues using glass-based tip material do not give nearly the range of jump height & distance control enjoyed by Stinger users. The Platinum Billiards robot tests break speed only (not jumping), and since the tests are only done with dead center hits, accuracy and jumpability have not been measured. Pros using the Stinger claim it jumps with very little effort and with nearly surgical control. This is a result of our patented tip/ferrule technology, coupled with a BCA-legal tip material.
We are pleased with the results of these independent tests.
* The Chinese-made cues are branded Fury/Cuetec/Scorpion (same cue, different graphics) and Mezz.
** It is our opinion that this material does not meet either the specs or the intent of the BCA tip material specification.
