Break cue, hard tip?

I'm planning on buying a new stick and using my old one as a break cue.

The tip needs replacing on the old cue. I was wondering if it makes more sense to replace it with a medium tip (as it is now) or would a harder tip be more appropriate for a break cue?

i'd go with medium hard.
just my personal preference, have a hard time controlling the cue ball with a hard tip.
