Break cue?

Are break cues constructed differently than playing cues? I just got a new Tiger cue and was going to just put my old cue and std. shaft it came with in the closet and sell my L.D I purchased for it. I was wondering if there is a difference in construction of play cues and break cues.
I was thinking about putting a break tip on the stiff std shaft on my old playing cue and use it for a break cue. See any problems? I have a lower end break cue that has no real problems, but like the feel and balance of my old playing cue, which might be better choice for break cue?

Break cues tend to have a little thicker shafts with a stouter taper. Butts are typically the same or maybe slightly different in weight distribution (except for the Mezz PBii which has a shorter length). Overall though, an old playng cue with a hard break tip will make a great break cue. It's 99% technique anyway, SvB has an amazing break and he usually uses his playing cue.
