Here are some break results for the inaugural Kings Cup played at the Newport Mall in the Resorts World Manila casino in the Philippines November 19-21. This event was 10-ball racing to 10 matches, with each match being a race to 5 games. The format was 3 team matches (4 on 4 or quadruples), 4 triples matches, 4 doubles matches, and 7 singles matches. [If the event had gone hill/hill, the final match would have been another quadruples match.] The doubles, triples, and quadruples matches were all alternate shot (like scotch doubles). The West won 10 matches to 8 for the East.

The players for the West were Mika Immonen (Captain), Darren Appleton, Shane Van Boening, and Albin Ouschan. The players for the East were Efren Reyes (Captain), Francisco Bustamante, Ko Pin-Yi, and Ko Ping-Chung.

The conditions for this event included the following: Rasson 9' table with 4½" corner pockets, Andy blue cloth, Cyclop balls, jump cues allowed, referee racks in a standard triangle rack with the 1-ball on the foot spot, alternate breaks, break from anywhere behind the head string, no illegal-break rule, 30-sec. shot clock with one extension per game per team, foul on all balls, and all slop counts except the 10-ball must be called and a 10-ball made in a foot-rail pocket on the break is spotted.

The following stats are for all 3 days of the event combined.

The West broke 65 times, with the following results:
• Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and won the game -- 22 (34%)
• Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and lost the game -- 15 (23%)
• Broke dry or fouled but won the game -- 10 (15%)
• Broke dry or fouled and lost the game -- 18 (28%)

I finally received and viewed Match 12 (on demand), so the above stats have been updated to include that match.

Thanks for these stats, Atlarge
So West not only have more wet breaks but quality of their breaks are also better. In the successful breaks , they won more than East and in their dry breaks , East won more
That suggests that West breaks were more open and easier to run out
:)
