Here are some aggregate break statistics from the 2024 Predator WPA World 10-Ball Championship played February 27 - March 2, 2024 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada with free streaming on Billiard TV's YouTube channel. The commentators were Jim Wych, Mark White, Eric Hjorleifson, Tim De Ruyter, George Teyechea, Chris Reinhold, and Mika Immonen. Carlo Biado won the event, defeating Naoyuki Oi in the final match.

This was an invitational 64-player event with double-elimination down to 16 players (8 on the winners' side and 8 on the one-loss side). The 8 players (out of the final 16) with the highest WPA rankings were then seeded into the final bracket and the positions of the other 8 were drawn randomly. It was then single elimination to the end. In the double-elimination stage, each match was the best two out of three races to 4. In the single-elimination stage, each match was the best three out of five races to 4. In both the double- and single-elimination stages, if the score was tied at hill/hill (3-3) in the deciding set of the match, a shootout determined the winner of the set (and, therefore, of the match).

The 23 matches (390 games) I tracked were all of the matches that were streamed on the two feature tables (Table 1 and Table 2) and were available for replay on YouTube. Only 1 of these matches ended with a shootout. These 23 matches were 20% of the total of 116 matches played in the event (119 scheduled, 3 not played).

The conditions for the streamed matches included:
- Predator Apex 9-foot table (4¼" corner pockets);
- Predator Arcadia Reserve Tournament Blue cloth;
- Predator Arcos II balls, including a black-triangles cue ball;
- Predator Arena lights;
- referee racks using a Predator Aerorack triangle rack, with the 1-ball on the spot (2-ball and 3-ball need not be on the back corners);
- winner breaks from anywhere behind the head string;
- call shots (but not safes), with the opponent having a choice of shooting or passing it back after a ball is pocketed illegally;
- early combinations or caroms on the 10-ball, if called, are not game winners; the 10-ball is spotted and the shooter continues;
- a 10-ball made in any pocket on a break is spotted (not a game win);
- jump cues allowed;
- foul on all balls;
- 3-foul rule in effect (loss of game occurred twice);
- 30-second shot clock (60 seconds after the break and after a push out) with one 30-second extension allowed per player per game; and
- lag for opening break.

The 23 matches tracked were as follows, shown in the order in which they were played. They total 390 games, but 1 game was not played (a penalty on Woodward in Match 1), and the stream was down for 4 games (Match 19). So the stats are for 385 games.

Therefore, whereas the breaker won 53% (204 of 385) of all games,
He won 67% (141 of 212) of the games in which the break was successful (made at least one ball and did not foul).
He won 36% (63 of 173) of the games in which the break was unsuccessful (fouled or dry).

Break-and-run games -- The 74 break-and-run games represented 19% of all 385 games, 36% of the 204 games won by the breaker, and 35% of the 212 games in which the break was successful (made a ball and didn't foul).

Miscellany from the data for the 2024 Predator World 10-Ball Championship:
[This relates only to the 23 streamed matches I tracked, not to all matches in the event.]

• The most balls made on a single break was 3, done 12 times. The breaker won 8 of those 12 games (5 by B&R) and lost 4.

• The average number of balls made on the break was 0.8 (this includes dry and fouled breaks). On successful breaks (made at least one ball and did not foul), the average was 1.4.

• Number of innings:
41% (159 of 385) of the games ended in one inning – 74 games on the breaker's first inning (B&Rs) and 85 games on the non-breaker's first inning.
21% (79 of 385) of the games ended in the second inning.
38% (147 of 385) of the games went beyond the non-breaker's second visit to the table. The game with the most innings ended on the breaker's 13th visit to the table.

• 34% (129 of 385) of the games were run out by the player who was at the table following the break. These run-outs were:
By the breaker after successful breaks (B&R games) – 35% (74 of 212);
By the non-breaker after fouls on the break – 71% (10 of 14); and
By the non-breaker after dry breaks – 28% (45 of 159).

• The player who made the first ball after the break:
Won the game in that same inning 58% of the time (224 of 385);
Won the game in a later inning 17% of the time (66 of 385); and
Lost the game 25% of the time (95 of 385).

• The loser won an average of 1.65 games in the 68 races to 4 in the 23 matches. Eleven of those 45 races ended at a score of 4-0, 21 at 4-1, 17 at 4-2, and 19 at 4-3. In addition, one match in the double-elimination stage had a third set that went to 3-3, causing a shootout.

• Just 1 of these 23 matches had a shootout. It lasted for 10 shots at an average of about 48 seconds each (including "racking").

• The average minutes per game for the 385 games was 6.9. The elapsed time for each match was measured from the lag until the winning ball was made for the last race to 4 or 3-3 tie if the match went to a shootout (i.e., shootouts not included), so it includes time for racking and timeouts between races.

• The match that was longest in elapsed time, at about 213 minutes, was the 5-set semifinal match between Oi and Grabe. The match highest in average minutes per game, at 8.3, was Kaçi d. Woodward.

• The match that was shortest in elapsed time, at about 49 minutes and lowest in average minutes per game, at 5.4, was Biado d. Van Boening.

• Breaking fouls averaged 1 for every 27.5 games, other fouls 1 for every 3.5 games, and missed shots about 1 for every 2.3 games.

• One or more safeties were played in about 50% of all games and 61% of games that were not B&Rs.
