Breakroom Billiards red flag?

So as some of you may know I have been to this pool hall called breakroom billiards. Well I was on their facebook and saw this post. Does this seem like a red flag to you guys?

If this is against some rule I will gladly remove this thread.

UPDATE-
There has been discussion around the ownership/management of the Breakroom moving forward.
The Jones/Dale family will continue to own and operate the Breakroom. We are looking forward to continuing to provide a quality location for our pool community!
Additionally, as we have loved to provide clean and high quality pool tables for leagues/events for the price of $1.00 per game over the past years. As with everything, pricing increases with time. With that being said, we will be raising our coin-op tables to $1.50 starting April 1. We will continue to provide the best pool tables in Rapid City!
We plan on bringing some new things to the Breakroom as well, moving forward. Stay tuned!
We appreciate all of your business and keeping the game of pool a success in Rapid City. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Here is their facebook

I would start a boycott. Maybe even organize a protest.
Oh Hell, an all out riot would not be out of order.

Actually I moved to wyoming. But anywho was just curious cause this seemed like a red flag to me that they might be closing or such.

I would agree. If I remember right the OP lives in ND and if I had to pay $1.50 for a bar box in the middle of nowhere not sure I'd be happy about that. Other then that, the post seems to be positive in nature.
Rapid City is in SD, biker boy. 🤣

How much do you pay for bar boxes? I routinely pay $1.50

And the regular hall has Diamonds for, I think, $3.50 per person per hour and it caps at 4 people, something like that. I actually don't play there very often so can't confirm, but it's close to that.

Wow I pay $1 for some bar boxes but $1.50 for others. And regular price for the rentals is $5.50 per person per hour but that is probably going up a dollar or such. Only 1 of the rental tables is a diamond and 2 are gold crowns ant the other 4 are valley bar box but with the coin stuff removed so they can be rentals.

Those prices aren't too crazy. I've paid $2+ for a bar box in other cities so it's not surprising. And the $5.50 isn't too bad as long as they cap it at some point. I wouldn't go there with four guys and pay $20 an hour.

I will have to ask them about capping.

One time when I was newer I rented a table and saw someone else at the place and asked if they wanted to play a game. The guy said sure. We played a game. And when we were done I was told that I should not do that cause even one game the other guy should of payed $5.50 for his portion of the rental table. Even if he was just playing 1 game and going back to his coin op table. Does this work the same way where you live?

Technically speaking, the table rate should've increased during the time he was playing but if a bar was that picky I probably wouldn't be a patron there.

Valley table in a bar I go to by my summer home, 25 cents. It's fantastic, price that is, table not so much, but it's what it is, and actually fun to play on. Sort of like an old beater pickup that's been paid off long ago.

LOL, yep. That was the kind of table we played on last Monday in league. Old beat up valley, it was .75 but it was just a like a worn out pair of jeans that fit perfect and I couldn't miss ;)

Almost all of the bars here (Beloit/Janesville, WI) went from $1.00 to $1.50 about 3 years ago. I quit playing at the bars at that point, preferring to give my money to the local pool hall when I had time to shoot rather than the coin amusement operator. By asking around I have found enough bars in the area that offer free pool on different days of the week, that if I want to play at a bar I can usually do it for free now. Never would have looked for free tables if the price had stayed at a buck or gone to $1.25, but a 50% jump kind of p***ed me off. I do shoot on one bar league, but the bars themselves pay the table for the league games.

LOL, I like your style.

They are touted on their Facebook post as the best pool tables in Rapid City. Surely they are Diamond tables and not Valley or Dynamo tables?

I have no clue what kind of operation this is. If they do a good amount of food and alcohol sales which you almost have to as a pool room these days to have a chance to make it, I’m sure their prices have been gradually going up for that stuff, just like they have everywhere else. So why increase their pool table per game prices by 50% all at one time?

If their average customer is spending more on food and alcohol than they are on their pool, an increase from $1 to $1.25 per game would be insignificant enough that they wouldn’t even have any need to make an announcement. Obviously management is fearful this increase 50% increase in pool prices may not go over well with their clientele, so they are trying to rationalize their reasons with this post. Yes, sounds to me like a red flag that the business could be struggling.

Nope all valley tables except 1 diamond 9 foot and 2 gold crown 9 foot that no league plays on. They do own their own valley tables that the leagues that are there use. They are not open to the everyday customer.

Food its all digiorno pizza and onion rings etc. Bottled beer no tap or hard liquor. I dont drink alcohol so I am not really sure on the alcohol stuff but from what little I have seen of leagues people buy buckets of beer. They had some special or something where they sell like 5 or 6 or such bottles of beer in a bucket with ice.
