Thumbs Up

I have to tell you all about a 14.1 league match that I had the other day & for once this is not a negative story about "sharking". I played a gentlemen named Larry Land. He is in my age bracket & has been around the Dallas/Ft.Worth pool scene forever, winning many tournaments. I have told you all how these tables where we play are so poor but as the day goes on the tables do become faster towards the evening time & the racks do open up better. So, I set my match for 3pm hoping that the table would be playing better but it had rained the prior day ending that morning with the DFW area getting 5" of a hard down fall. The table was playing really poorly. The racks would not open and when I would push the rack forward to the spot the balls in the rack would not roll (rotate).
After two hours of playing. I had just broke a rack open while pocketing a ball but the cue ball got kicked in. At this time the score was Larry 79 and my score was 65. Up until this point we were playing one rack at a time with many safes back & worth. My high runs during all this time were 23 & 16. Larry's high runs were 16 & 13. I had notice that the rack started to open up a little better and the balls in the rack were rolling properly as I pushed the rack forward to the spot. As Larry was up to the table adding to his score, I was telling myself "this will help me when I get back up at the table".....
How wrong was I..... Larry ran 71 & out to win the match. I told him to keep going and he ran another 34 balls for a total of 105. Congrats to Larry for such a beautiful run and proving that it can be done even on those tables (at the right time of day). Now that is a match that I do not mine losing & telling others about b/c he earned it all the way.

Thanks Mike. I think I'm playing Larry pretty soon. Now I'm super nervous! :p

Okay, not really. Running 100+ on any table is amazing to me. I'll have to congratulate Larry when I see him!

Good Luck my friend. He does have a lost under his belt. So, we know that anyone can lose a match once in a while......... (Set the match up at 11am when the place first opens) :>)

Ingo:

Hint: read my quote of Vahmurka's post. Then read Vahmurka's original post that I supposedly "quoted." Something is different between them -- a single word, that completely changes the meaning.

-Sean <-- likes to cause "you said... no I didn't say that!" mayhem

Sean you made me believe I wrote what you quoted, LOL.
Now back to the topic: Mike Grosso is da man! :) Would love to view just another commented run from the game expert.
