My buddy just purchased a new Brunswick Barringer 9ft. about 3 weeks ago from a dealer in Florida. The dealer drove the table out in a van and set it up here in Colorado - everything was fine and I was impressed with how well the table setup seemed to be.

Tonight I went over to give the gentleman's sons some lessons and immediately noticed that the center slate had "dropped" about 1/16" where it meets each of the end slates.

The table is on a thin Persian rug which is on top of a stone tiled floor (I don't think any settling occured).

Any ideas as to why this happened or what the remedy might entail?

Thx, Fred

Hi Fred,
Sorry to hear about the slate problem. The change in climate could be the reason. The wood frame of the table expands and contracts with the hot and cold. If the seams had been glued this would not have happened. There are many of us who are firm believers in useing glue on the seams but there are more guys out there who don't think it is necessary. You will need a mechanic to come out and reset the slates. I use Liquid Dowels for my seams. Make sure they glue the seams. Best of luck.

Thanks, Pat. That sounds like a reasonable explanation. The table is in a building adjacent to the main house and is still being remodeled. The first time I played on the table we could only get the temp up to 50F. We have had some sub zero nights here lately and I don't know what his heating protocol is for the room.

What do you recommend as a maximum variance in temperature for his room?
