Brunswick Newport/Saratoga? help

i drove 3 hours to buy an antique brunswick in a gentleman's basement. he believed it was a newport and had quite a few pics posted(which should be posted below) to my surprise in the basement the 3 piece slate was 1 and 1/2 inch thick. which in turn was quite a bit heavier/harder to get out of the basement but that story is for another day. the saratoga, which looks identical, did have the 1 and 1/2 inch slate as an option. could anyone who has some knowledge about the two look at the pictures and give me their opinion on which it is please? also i would like to know if you think i made a wise decision in a pool table/how they both play. thank you.
