I have a chance to buy a Centurion for $1000 and wanted to know the major differences with it and a Gold Crown. The Centurion looks like a GC lite but I figured someone out there would have some experience on one.

I am not looking for perfection but dont want junk either.

Brunswick table

I think that is a little much for a Centurion personally. I would rather have a Sport King for that money. Spend a little more and you can get a Gold Crown I or II, or even an Anniversary in great shape and will play way better than either one of those tables. Send me a PM if you need help, I'm in Dallas.

Centurion is a lower-level table than the GC. I could name a hundred things that are different between the two, but the best analogy is a Camry vs. a high-end Lexus. Both are hardy and durable, but the Lexus, like the GC, spares nothing. The GC is a tournament-level table. It has leveling screws, a solid mahogany frame (vs plywood, though both are VERY sturdy). The materials on the rails and corners are better.

MSRP for a new Centurion is $5000, whereas the GC is $10,000. Everything is different. Except for the slate and cushions, which are the same. GC is a much more durable table, made to be used hard and over a long period of time. Centurion will not last quite as long, or have ALL of the bells and whistles.

$1000 could be very reasonable, depending on what year it was made.
