Buddy and Grady were talking about this the other day on one of my 2001 Masters DVDs. I did see in a copy of Billiards Digest that Nick Varner won the first Superman Classic back in 2001.

I guess my question is - how many years did they have this tournament down in the Metropolis/Paducah area? Is there a list of winners out there somewhere?

Hey. There was only 1 as far as I can remember. It was held at a new convention center at the time right off the 1-24 exit in Metropolis.. my old friend Scott Smith was the TD. I was running a few bets for Scott and also played in it. It was right after I moved back close to family here from Colorado Springs.. I live pretty close to Metropolis.

Nick won it.. After Buddys visitation in Metropolis a few weeks ago we went to Sullys, played a little one pocket and I mentioned it. Nick reminded me he won it... I dont remember much else.

I was at the same Funeral home today. We lost another one of our local pool family.. :(

I guess it's odd that both Barry Behrman's Masters tournament in April 2001 and Buddy Hall's Superman Classic in 2001 only lasted the one year.
