I understand all of the arguments for and against heavier break cues; I just want to experiment. PM me if you're willing to jump on the grenade.

If you were to make a butt using phenolic I would build it around a tube. You would still get the rigidity of phenolic with out all the weight. Use what ever wood you like on the outside and leave the ID of the phenolic hollow. It would still be heavy but not nearly as heavy as a solid piece. If I am not mistaken there are cues made with a portion of the cue being cored with phenolic tube.
