Building a shaft question/deflection

Hello cue makers....got a question and advice:

Let's say I want to have a shaft (in my case a Schon) retapered, smaller diameter, etc. in an attempt to reduce deflection. What would be a good starting point?

I've already had Seyberts send me a 12.75 shaft and I like the way it plays compared to my 13mm. So, I was thinking of trying a 12mm or 12.5mm and retapering. However, I do not know what I'm doing. What would be a good taper and diameter size? Or, am I wasting my time?

Any suggestions and/or experiments done?

A turn-down/shaft reduction would be a step towards L/D but will never give you the same end-results as just switching to a 314-2.
The Schon shaft is not a L/D shaft nor can it be made to be.
L/D is the result of lower front-end mass. The Schon ferrule is outrageously hard & heavy. Plus, there's 1 inch of it.
