when is the right time for you to offer someone to buy out of a bet? is it ok to offer it tothem at the end? and if you do offer the option to him at the end does the other player owe you the option of starting out where you let him go or is the slate clear? and after all is done should you even give the other player action i the future?

I'm a little confused by your questions, but I'll give it a shot. You can offer to let someone buy out at any time, but it is up to them whether they will agree or not. Whether they accept or not will depend on how stuck they are, and how generous your offer is. I'm not sure what you mean by "starting out where you let him go", but if you let them buy out, they no longer owe you anything. Thats the whole point of buying out. Should you give them action again? I don't see why not, after all you didn't have to make the offer to let them off, and you did walk out with some of their money right? Why are you offering a buyout? Are you in a hurry to be somewhere, are you trying to keep a fish on the line, or do you just feel guilty taking their money?

let me clarify

i offered him to buy out several times and he didnt. at the end was when the place closed and i offered him one last chance.he had the cash to pay but is an old friend and i thought he had the worst end by far.

the game was 8 ball ghost. then if he didnt do it id offer rotation on the rest of the table. all on a bar box

to begin with i wasnt gambling, but he said ill do it for 5.needless to say we were betting 50 by the time it was done.

yes got ball in hand

i felt guilty, thanks for reply

It doesn't happen to often, but sometimes I find myself in a game where I have the best of it. When this happens I sometimes will ask the person if they would like to buy out for the full amount to save them the time of playing.

buying out is an option usually opted for when one or both players are:

Not playing well, and one is ahead by say 4-0 or 4-1 going to 7,
emergency comes up, roads gets bad, time to go home ect......

I got edified on buying out when I was playing a guy for $100 race to 7, he broke in the 9 twice and slopped in the 9 before I got up to the table, finaly he missed score 3-0, laughing he asked me if I wanted to "buy out" for $50, which I didn't know what it meant, he explained it to me, and before he was done, I was laughing at him, and asked him if he wanted to settle with me for $50, not that I needed to shake him up to beat him but he could barely get the energy to kick at balls for the rest of the set, I won 7-4, then I asked if he wanted to double the bet and I gave him 2 games, 7-3 with the 2 game spot. Not important, but a cute story non the less.

don't settle if your at the end of a set(unless you feel shacky, and unsure of your self) if the score is 5-0, 5-1, or even 5-2 going to 7 I wouldn't, expecialy if you and your opponent are equal, or even if he's maybe a ball better, winning breeds confidence. 5-3 depends on opponent, and who's breaking.

If it's with a friend, well all advice is out the window, good luck with that one.
