Can anyone ID this old Brunswick table?

Hello all. I am hoping someone can help me identify this old Brunswick table I am thinking of buying. It is for sale by an old timer who used to own a pool hall and shipped it when he moved to my area. He says it is at least 40 years old. I assume he knew enough about pool tables to have determined it was a decent table before deciding to spend the money to ship it.

The ad describes it thusly: Three piece slate top 1" thick. Each section weighs 235 lbs. Table sets up level and is rock solid. There is no damage to the slate. Cloth and Belgium balls are in very good condition. Includes 3 cues, bridge and floor stand for cues.

The attached photos make the legs appear to be metal, but they are bent laminated wood and have leg levelers. The original Brunswick skirts were removed and his brother custom made the replacement skirts, although he obviously did not complete the job to cover the drop pockets.

Can anyone ID this table? Any idea of its value? He will sell it for $400 and I imagine it could cost a good $500 to have it dismantled, moved to my location and set up with new cloth. He says he installed the (unknown but good quality) cloth with staples to the under board and he is sure it could be reused, but I would not count on it. The cushions are original and he says they are not hard. If the quality of the table justifies it, might it be worth replacing the cushions with Artemis?

Thanks to all!

David

WOW.... That's actually a Brunswick Viscount.... Not sure where the side skirts are from tho. Appears they were stolen from some dresser drawers....

Just google Brunswick Viscount and you can see images of what it was supposed to look like.....

A doctor friend of mine has one in his basement and had it redone a few years back. Plays super solid...

I actually looked at buying one of them when I was searching for a 9footer before I found my Moderne....

They are not quite as heavy duty as a GC but many of the GC parts fit them... If you can find someone with the original cabinetry and put it back to right it should serve you and future generations very well... With the skirts currently on it make sure you get a good enough deal to do that..... $400 for the frame, rails and legs might let you come out OK IF the slates are not cracked (they were pinned so it's a possibility)... Cloth and Rails are a given unless you purchase something newer or newly redone....

The Viscount I was looking at was 1600 and was complete with 2 month old simonis... Take into consideration that the market has came down from there since this was maybe 3 years ago....

I'd try and check on the cabinet price from one of the used Brunswick parts sellers and see if I could come in around 1200 with purchase +new cloth, rails and used cabinetry... GC cabinetry may work on them but I'd have to go look to know for sure since it's been a minute......

Thanks for the great info, Renfro! I have read differing descriptions of the Viscount, from it being a lower quality table than even the Medalist in one poster's opinion, to it being the same top as the Gold Crown but with the pretzel legs, which are adjustable for leveling, like the GC and unlike the Medalist which are not adjustable legs.

Anyone else have any opinion of this table in terms of how well it should play when properly set up? Maybe for $400 it is not a bad deal even though it looks funky without the original skirts?

I paid $300 for my 8'+ and restored it to better than new condition. It plays extremely well. It's the best of my two tables.
