Can you give an opinion about the quality of shafts just on pictures?

Do you think that either of these shafts are good quality?

Also, I wonder why one of the shafts is so much darker then the other shaft? I assume it is because the wood is older in the darker shaft?

I see a lot of growth rings, but they are very far apart. Does this mean that the shaft is not very good?
