The canadian nationals are just around the corner.... if pagulyon attends hes my fav.. horsfall cant do it 2wice.. wiseman is a contendor... ne opinions?

I don't know too many of the Canadian players besides the ones that I have seen from B.C. come down to Seattle to play. Horsfall will be up there. I was both impressed with your Mike Vidas and Simon Pickering when they were down. Can't just put out Paul Portier either. Or Barry...something who shoots with a snooker cue. Pagulayan will for sure have a run through also.

Hey Wolf,

I seen your name down there also, maybe you will win it.

Alex is playing about the best pool in North America right now, he has to be considerd the odd's on favorite.

By the way, are you coming for the Eastern Canadian's this year?

Kent Mc.

Does anybody know where you can view a complete list of the players attending? What is the prize money like for the Canadian nationals?

Hopefully Luc Salvas plays, he would have a good chance at winning it, Horsfall looked good at the challenge of champions and I wouldn't count him out, Edwin Montal would be a good darkhorse, there's so many good players there it's hard to pick a winner.

the way Pagulayan is playing....he's gonna take this one. Didn't see Raymond Cruz there. Chris Jenkins wasn't he the Junior champ last year or something? wonder how he will place. I really can't see anyone taking this but Pagulayan....he wasn't there last year to defend his title it would prolly have been a repeat. Did Martel retire already or something? His name's not on.

Also Pagulayan is entered in the snooker event and prolly would do well, although there is alot of good competitors there.

Are they gonna be telecasting this on tv? TSN maybe?

Also in the juniors...i see Marrio Morra's son is there, he's pretty good, damn good. And this kid Stefan, is that's the same stefan that keeps kickin my ass then he's pretty good too.

From Quebec, Alain Martel is going (not in top shape), Danny Hewitt (really not in good shape), Luc Salvas (has been playing good lately), Nicolas Guimond (could be a surprise he had won the Canadian previously and played very well this year). I'm going but don't intend to play.
Let me know if you're coming so we can meet.

Thanks for the info Pooljunkie, it's nice to see Pagulayan will be going this year he is the definite favorite to win. I noticed Cliff Thorburn will be there, it will be very interesting to see how well he does. The list has all the big names Canada has to offer which will make for some interesting matchups, I wished I could go:)

Yeah wish I could go again like last year, was dissapointed with my play last time kinda have a point to prove, but have othe thing to do. But I tell ya what a great atmosphere at the Canadians

I was watching a local tourney a couple of weeks ago with all big names....Thorburn, Thornley, Cruz...Pagulayan wasn't there, i guesse he was in the US. I stayed late at night just to watch trying to learn. Well it was handicap and Thorburn lost to some 7 kid. He had to give this kid the 7ball....not suprisingly the kid won....and there were a couple of misunderstandments and mistakes during the match which could have altered the final score...but Thorburn really showed some high class saying that he lost and there's really no point in tryin to fight over it....really a gentle man and i respect him more now, not that i didn't respect him before but i have alot of respect from that guy.

Erik Hjorliefson who will most likely play Alex in the second round could prove to be very tough to beat.

Erik is a former two or three time Canadian Junior Champion in both Snooker and 9 ball.

He has also won the Canadian Open 9 Ball Championships that were held in Prince Albert, Sask, about 2 years ago.

The Open Championships was a much tougher field than what he faces now.

Granted Alex has been playing very well as of late (ok for the last five or so years) but I would not be surprized if Erik came out of that bracket.

Just some info on one of Canada's up and coming stars!

Hi Cardinal, John Morra went two and out. Stefan placed 9th - 12th. I beleive Chris lost in the finals last year to Jason Thomas. Terry:)
