My Experience with CC...
I'm currently stationed overseas, and was home for the holidays. I'd contacted Trevor at CC and corresponded by email before I got home, discussing various options, pricing and my design. While in North Carolina, I drove 5 1/2 hours each way to visit his shop. They couldn't have been any friendlier, gave me a tour of the facility (it's a big shop) let me see various cues finished and in the process of finishing. We went over my design and he discussed the pros/cons of various materials, letting me hit with various cues to feel the difference between types of joints, etc.
The fit and finish of their cues are fantastic--definitely top drawer quality. The veneers on his half-splice points are air tight and the points are dead even. They've come up with newer ring designs lately, but of course will try unique designs, too. He looked at my design, priced it out and gave me a price too good to believe for as much cue as I'm ordering. Should have it in a couple of months, will post pictures and a review then.
Having shot with the same Schon for almost 20 years, the cues I tried at CC definitely felt different (of course one of them didn't even have a weight bolt in it--that threw me!). The cues I tried were all flat faced (one of ivory, one SS) with the big pin. I'm ordering mine with the SS 5/16 X 14 piloted that I've used my whole life, deciding against ivory...gonna stick with what I know and love. I definitely saw a big difference in the deflection of his shafts (WAY less than a Schon), and they really spin the white ball with little effort.
This cue will be old school, slightly pimped...60 inches, 20 oz, ebony spliced into curly maple, black, dark blue, light blue natural veneers, large ivory horseshoes in the ebony butt sleeve. White ring tail lizard wrap, rings at all points (Juma with MOP dots sandwiched between rings...the only ivory I want forward of my stroke hand is in the ferrels). Once sighted in, it will be my daily player (my old Schon will retire, but never be sold!).
