I know this is probably a stupid question but is it possible to get a leather case tooled after its been made???
I've got a instroke buffalo 3x7 and its a really great case but i fancy something a bit fancier, would it be possible to get it tooled? I really dont want to spent $400-$500 on a new case. :(

I'm sure someone could take off the leather and do it then put it back, I believe tooling can't be done on the case. I also believe it would be cheaper to buy a new case, but I'm sure Chas could do the job for $1700 give or take a few thousand, do you have a few years to tie it up?

To have the leather removed from a Widowmaker case and your named tooled on it costs about 75.00. I was going to have this done and also have the 9ball rack colored, but ended up selling the case instead.

The leather used on the Instroke Buffalo models is not really suitable for tooling. The two options that you have which would be most economical are to have some additional decorative pieces tooled and attached to the case or to have the case decorated by leather burning. The first method can look good as I have seen some very nice jobs. The second can also look good but requires someone who is very good at the techniques.

The leather on the buffalo is really to thin to do much to it in the way of tooling, carving or burning. The beauty of this case lies in the look and feel of the leather as it is.

It would be a good idea to seek out someone who is good at decorating leather and ask them what they can offer you. Be prepared to spend over $100 for just about anything though. Another thing you can consider would be to attached decorative accents to it. These are available through Tandy Leather.

I agree...my 3x7 buffalo was purchased for that very reason. I wouldn't change a thing. Just get a new case and have it done the way you want...then that'll give you an excuse to buy some new cues to fill up the holes.

Now i like that idea! :D

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've decided to leave buffalo as it is, i do like the case and i wouldn't want to do anything that might screw it up!
My plan now is to save up and then give Mr Justis a call.
