16. Balls and Ball Rack
All balls must be composed of cast phenolic resin plastic and measure 2 ¼ (+.005) inches [5.715 cm (+ .127 mm)] in diameter and weigh 5 ½ to 6 oz [156 to 170 gms].

Compared to the size variance I was startled by weight variance allowance. Having nothing better to do, I weighed a set of Brunswick Centennials. The cue ball in this set came in at 5.9 ounces and the other balls varied no more than .07 ounces.

I Have Two Sets

I own a used set of Centennials (my travel set to the pool hall) and a brand new un-played set of Centennials............every single ball (32 in total)........every numbered ball and both blue dot cue balls weighed precisely 168 grams apiece............all 32 balls in both sets.

There was basically zero (0) variation in weight tolerance for every single ball in both the used and new unplayed set of Centennial pool balls. The balls were all within .05grams tolerance of one another. FYI........Aramith's 3 dot measles cue ball weighs exactly 169 grams.

All measurements were done using my electronic Ohaus Valor scale that I regularly use for work purposes. I have to calibrate/verify the scale's accuracy weekly so I know the scale is dead on.
