Challenge Matches with Top Players from Vietnam

(Ly The Vinh, Nguyen Quoc Nguyen, Tran Chien Quyet)

When: August 9 – August 10 (USBA Tour Open from Aug 12 - Aug 14)

Where: Phi Hong Billiards, 13925 Harbor Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92843

Billiards hall recently remodeled and upgraded.

Equipment: Gabriel tables with new Simonis clothes.

One 30 Point Match against any of these three players, if you win you will get $50, and pay only $30 when you lose.

If you want an experience playing against a world class player, come for the challenge match. You can also watch and learn the game, and enjoy Vietnamese sandwiches and coffee.

Around 100 matches played btw local players vs vn top players. Stake has increased to $100 if a local player win since Tuesday. Players are having fun playing lots of billiards. Oh yeah, these Vn guys are very nice too, they show you lessons after you lost a match to them LOL
 
Good Tournament

They had a regular tournament there today 8/14/16 and I think yesterday too. I was not going to go and was just going to practice at my local Billiard hall, but when I arrived my friend offered to drive me to the tournament, naturally I said yes. I got to see many good local players and of course the pros from Vietnam, and Mexico. The House was going to charge people 20 dollars a person for spectator fees but they decided to make it free. I did not stay for the conclusion but saw about 4 matches.

Ricky Carranco
Mr. Avila
Raymundo from Mexico, Forgot his last name
Mr. Sosa
Nguyen Quoc Nguyen

I don't know who is responsible for bringing in the Vietnam/Mexican players but a big thank you to who ever did.

Sorry I would have taken pictures but did not realize I was going to the tournament today.
 
Spoke to Ricardo Carranco on the results of the Open Tournament at Phi Hong. Here is breaking news story I posted on my home page (3CushionBilliards):

Nguyen Quoc Nguyen of Vietnam Wins Phi Hong Open Tournament! Following his excellent showing of reaching the finals in the Verhoeven Open, Vietnamese star Nguyen Quoc Nguyen and two of his compatriots went to play in the Open Tournament held at Phi Hong Billiards in Garden Grove. California. His superior play made the trip out West pay off to the tune of $3,300 as Nguyen Quoc Nguyen was the first place winner. Miguel Avila of Mexico took second while former USBA champion Pedro Piedrabuena was third. The 4th and 5th spots went to the other Vietnamese visitors Chien Duc Anh Nguyen and Quyet Chien Tran. Story and pictures will be posted on my website as soon as the tournament director sends me the update!
