After reading the "Inside Pool" article regarding the challenge table at Hopkins.I thought to myself, what a great idea.I think this would be a great idea at other action friendly tourneys i.e DCC. I know its great to see two players match up for a long set.But wouldnt it be nice to see an open table, come one come all.

Have you been to the DCC? It was my impression that "all" the tables in the bar area were chalenge tables. YMMV

Larry, yep loved the article.
Frank, the tables at DCC in the bar area were used for more one on one matches. What im refering too is one game match ups, no races, or anything like that.winner stays and then the next guy steps up.Something relatively cheap, like a benjamin a game. That way the average joe can mix it up gambling with the big boys.Plus that would keep it interesting more so then waiting 15 hrs to see who got snapped off in a 10 ahead set.lol

that was yours truly that wrote that article. i hope you liked it.

Larry,
Why did you ahve to be standing on the table where you were? You missed getting me in the picture by one person. I Enjoyed the article very much because thats where I spent all my time. Not playing but sweating the action. I was told I could sweat it better then anyone. I can't wait to next year and get in a lil more on the side action. Hell maybe if I'm much better by next year I might play a rack or 2. I spent 3 days sitting front row at that table and didnt want to leave. I think the only thing the article was missing was a couple of the great quotes from friday night's action.

I used to play in a bar 9 ball tournament close to Oxnard Ca. The best players used to come in there to play. People would come well before the tournament started and start up a challenge table. Whatever amount both players agreed to was what they played for but once the game was over, someone else challenged the table. They would play a game for $50 or $5 and it really didn't matter. It was a lot of fun! This was back in the mid '80's.
