Changing joint on a 314 to fit fury j/b

I just got my new Fury j/b cue in. I have a predator 314 shaft on a fury Nr-1 wich I bought used. The shaft will not fit on my new fury j/b cue. Can I easily get a new joint put on my 314 shaft to fit my fury j/b and can anyone point me in the right direction as to who is reliable to do this work, and is either close to Connecticut, or the Connecticut Massachusettes or Connecticut Rhode Island border. Does anyone now what type of joint is on a fury j/b cue?

I am even open to just getting a regular extra fury j/b shaft and getting a regular tip put on it.

Or would it be easier and or cheaper to just sell my fury nr-1 w/extra 314 shaft and buy a new 314 shaft. Can a 314 shaft be purchased to fit a fury j/b off the shelf or does it need to be modified anyway.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am keeping the shaft with the phenolic tip, but I also want an extra shaft that is a 314 with a regular tip so I can switch back and forth and used the fury j/b as a back up cue in case something happens to my regular cue in the middle of a match. I am definately not playing a full rack or match with a phenolic tip. I only like carrying 2 cues and don't want to get a larger case to carry around 3 cues.

Looking at the joint on my Fury j/b a would doubt that you'd be able to buy a 314 to fit it off the shelf. Looks kind of a weird pin they use.

Proficient Billiards will handle all your cue modification needs. There work is excellent. Check out their website. Are you going to jump using a 314 shaft? People here will tell you that it's virtually impossible to jump using a 314 shaft. I had a brown phenolic tip/ferrule combo put on a 314 and it breaks and jumps very well. Especially the long jump shots. I've not tried a short jump with it. It's a full cue and does not have the jump joint (yet).

The Fury joint is called a "True Loc Quick Release". It is different from a Uni-Loc.

By the way, my Predator is in their website gallery. It looked very bad before they refinished it. The white butt cap was busted and there were dozens of dings and scratches all over it.

Thanks for the info Hal.

No I'll be jumping with the regular phenolic tip shaft that came with the fury j/b. Will only be breaking with a 314 with a regular tip from time to time.

I've got a 314 on my playing cue and have found no difference jumping balls with that versus another shaft. I do find a huge difference jumping with a phenolic tip though. I think being able to jump has more to do with the type of cloth, technique, than the type of shaft or ferrule technology.

Thanks for that recomendation for Proficient billiards. I will check them out.

So you can jump consistantly with a 314 shaft that has a standard ferrule and tip??

Yes. I personally have not seen a difference, and I do have a regular maple shaft and a 314 to compare. I've heard people say they have problems jumping with 314's as well though. Is there any factual reasoning for these statements(the hollow ferrule), (the stiffness of the laminated shaft),

I alway thought it was because the shafts are designed to flex away from the contact point on the cue ball, thus reducing deflection. I imagined the the shaft would flex to much when trying to jump with one and end up just putting a ton of draw on the cue ball.

Then again i might be totally wrong. (wont be the first time!)
