I think the chatroom is a great idea but because you never know when it's going to be working or not, I don't think it is being used that much. Every time I enter it, not very often now, there isn't anyone online in there and I can see that others have been there and have entered a "Hi" and left. That tells me that others are having the same problem. If the chatroom was open at a very dependable time, I think more people would use it. Maybe a thread to declare it open? Just a suggestion.
