Chicago Airport question

First of all, thanks for any info put forth it is appreciated. I am going to the derby city classic in January and am taking a flight from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to a connectiong flight in Chicago. I am wondering if the 45 minutes between landing and 2nd flight departure is enough. I don't want to be left scrambling if my flight is delayed ect. Any thoughts?

Hi Sean,

I fly in and out of ORD a lot. If your flight is delayed on the way in due to weather in Chicago, your outbound will be delayed as well. I usually leave about an hour between flights there. What airline are you flying on? If you are transferring between airlines, 45 minutes may be too short. American Ailines with terminals G through L can get passengers between them in that time frame. My suggestion is to inform a steward(ess) of your time constraints. They may be able to get you to the front of your inbound flight to get you off the plane faster! If this is your first Derby, you're going to love it! :cool:
 
Thanks fo rhte reply Cardiac kid. It is an American Airlines flight but I do have to transfer. Same Airline though so hopefully all will go well. It seems all of the flights have that 45 min time constaint attached.

Sean,

You will arrive at either gates H or K. Your outbound is from gate G. At the worst, it is a fifteen minute walk from K or H16 to G20. More like a half mile walk at worst. You can call Louisville anything you want but LOUIS VILLE! Good luck, hope to see you there.
 
You have to love the 1/2 mile OJ run between flights......

An hour would be better but 45Min will do, just remember after that "brisk walk" you may still have a person wanting you to take off your shoes and do the rubber glove test.....

"Sir do you have a problem doing that?"(security) "Oh no... not at all I just had 5Min to make this flight and I just ran from terminal x so give me a sec to catch my breath"(me) or thats how I should of put it :rolleyes:

Assuming that Sean is flying into O HAre and not Midway; usually the connecting flight is in the same concourse i.e. arrive in G3 and connecting at gate G16. The concourses are long but there are 'speedwalks' to help speed you between gates. Then again, you may only need to go 30 yards from "G3" to "G10" My experience is that if your arriving flight isn't too late, they usually hold the connecting flight. 45 minutes is more than enough time to get from one gate to another. Personally, I've never had to go from one concourse to another. Make sure to check the connecting flight's gate on the screen because it might be different than the gate the stewardess announces (it has happened).

Ditto all of the above. O'Hare is a nightmare especially in the winter, delays and all. Make sure you check the board as soon as you get off the plane. The airport is notorious for changing gates last minute, and you can surly expect that the change will be further away.
