I've got a old titlist cue. I'd like to turn this cue into a 31" butt. Is it possible to chop the cue up and add a handle. The cue has a thick butt, opposite of thin. Seems there is wood to work with. But I don't know how you make a cue, coring etc. So? Thanks in advance.

Conversion

Yes it is possible to "chop it up" and add a handle. This is done quite frequently with old titlist cues. I would suggest you find a cue maker in your area that has experience in doing conversions. If you are planning on doing it yourself you should probalbly practice this with some old one piece house cues a few times. I would core out the forearm with a piece of purpleheart or straight grain maple. Straight grain maple or laminated maple for the handle. Hope this helps you.

titlist

i have took tru balance cues and cut them in two about 5 in. from the rear, this is a simple way to remove the steel rod used for weight.then core both directions, turn a piece of maple to fit each core, leaving a larger center section to the desired length to be added.keep in mind the joint area size when lengthing, the added section will be hidden under the wrap.i would be a little cautious of coring a titiest,it could fault the old glue joints.on billiardcues.com are some of the tru balance cues i have done, look under tom reed cues.
