I recently purchased this cue from Chuck here on AZBilliards. About a year ago I purchased one of Chuck's butterfly cues with a steel pin. Both transactions were perfect. And Chuck definitely stands behind his work. I need a couple of very minor details taken care of on the first cue. Chuck graciously took the cue, worked on it, and had it back to me in just a few days. No charge.

About this new Sapele cue. Obviously the wood pin is what makes the cue unique. As the shaft and handle get close together it really locks up tight. Then you essentially have a one piece cue. It feels just as solid as my favorite Hubler one piece cue. It does not have the harsh sort of hard hit. It feels solid with lots of feedback. You know it is almost impossible to really convey what a cue feels like. But this one feels real good. It plays better than many of $1000+ cues.

So, for $350 delivered I got a guaranteed cue that hits a ton with very nice Sapele and Curly Maple, a quality ferrule, and Moori tip. I doubt that anyone can beat that deal for an excellent playing cue.

Thanks Chuck.

I would have to agree that you got one super good deal. That is some very nice wood in that cue.

Excellent complementing grain patterns and color combination. Why didn't I think of that???????

My Chuck Starkey isn't nearly as pretty, its a sneaky full splice, but the wood pin does seem to transmit all relevent feedback very effectively. Chuck didn't invent the wood pin but you have to give him credit for going the extra mile to give the customer a cue that will let him/her play their best pool. The confidence that comes from this type of hit is just what I need when I step up to the table. If other more affordable cues like this hit this well pool would be more popular because it feels so good to have that much control of the cue ball. If I do miss, its usually obvious why, not like a bad video shot with a cell phone but Hi Def 1080P on a big ass plasma!
