In 2021, CJP Billiards offered a different version of pocket reducers to shrink the size of the pockets?
I already use Pro Pocket Reducers for practice but the design is not without limitations because of how
tall the reducers are. The version that CJP came up with is more akin to a pocket shim and attach flush
with the jaws of the pocket. It seems to be a better design but the durability of the adhesive used
undoubtedly would diminish with repeated use for practice purposes. I can’t say for sure but the video on
FB refers to repeated use so it seems like it might be a limiting factor. Anyway, the design was superior to
pro pocket reducers and I’m wondering what ever became of this different version of pocket reducers. The
cost to manufacture couldn’t be that great and imagine if this style reducer was available in different sizes
to shrink the pool table pockets. If you could add 1/4” on each side of the pocket, a 4.5” pocket would
convert to 4” or 5” to 4.5”. And the design isn’t as goofy looking as pro pocket reducers so the pool table
still looks like a table instead of hovering wire towers.
I’ve searched looking to find CJP pocket reducers in vain so I presume it was a short lived product and I’m
wondering why? I firmly believe practicing with tighter, smaller pockets helps you improve your pool skills
if you correctly practice rather than just become frustrated missing shots you think would have gone in. It
also is an ideal for playing golf on a 9’ table instead of using pro pocket reducers. If anyone has tried the
CJP reducers, your opinion on how well they work would be appreciated. If you never used them but have
tried pro pocket reducers, do you think the CJP design is better? Does anyone know how come the CJP
wireless pocket reducer version apparently has gone away unlike pro pocket reducers? The only thing I could
think of is with repeated use, i.e., removal, the adhesive backing quickly loses its stickiness.
