cleaning and polishing ferrule

I have always installed my own tips using equipment at work without problems,the ferrules are ivory so no dirt problems. A friend wants me to clean and polish the ferrule on his cue.Is there a preferred polishing product or just use a good automotive cleaner wax.I don't do this for money just to help out a friend who can't seem to learn how to chalk without getting all over the place....haha

Without looking at ferrule id say sand with 800 lighly then work up to 1500 and 2000 use backing of sandpaper strip ,a little spit and watch it shine up ,just be carefull on diffrent ferrules

What type of material is the ferrule made of?
Most materials only need some shaft cleaner, 1200, 2000, 3000 grit wet sanding and a good polishing compound like 3M fine or ultra fine.
If it's a LBM ferrule, you might not get all the dirt out of it, but start with some shaft cleaner to get the most of the dirt off. Try some cleaning solution with small particles in it like a kitchen scrubbing compound, toothpaste (never tried it...) or a hand cleaner with pummice. Then use your compressor and blow away as much dirt as you can. Use some 1200 grit. Seal the ferrule with superglue and sand and polish like I described.

I don't know what type of material the ferrules are made from,the shafts are pechauer, I looked on their website but didn't see many technical specs listed anywhere.

I couldn't find the specs, but I cant remember seeing a weave pattern on Peachauer shafts, so I guess it's not LBM

I have only worked on one shaft of his, and the material looked like a thermoset type, which means any heat from polishing/buffing or burnishing with the back of sandpaper can cause the ferrule to distort, or swell, so proceed with caution, and maybe call or email Pechauer to ask what he recommends. Some solvents can also eat into some ferrule materials. I generally use denatured alcohol with a magic eraser.
