I recently sent 2 predator shafts to the cue maker who built my cue and I asked him to install inserts and trim rings on the shafts so they would fit my cue. I sent the payment with the shafts and I received my shafts back 7/29/05. When I pulled the shafts out of the Fedex shipping tube I was amazed to see that the shafts didn't have any finish on them at the joint area (none at all).

I need to find a cue maker to put the standard clear coat finish at the trim ring area on my two predator shafts. I don't want to send them back to the cue maker who did the initial work on my shafts for me.

After contacting the cue maker who worked on my shafts I discovered that some people are requesting shafts with no finish on them. Apparently this style goes back to the early Balabushka/G. Szamboti days when the shafts had the same color all the way to the trim rings after they'd been played with for a while. I jumped to the conclusion that there was a problem with my shafts and was hesitant to complain about it. The cue maker said "No problem" and that he'd be glad to put the finish on the shafts like I preferred. The unfinished look is not for me right now...maybe later.

SCCues, How well does the joint match up? If it's a matter of just throwing a clearcoat on them I can help you out. If the joints have to be matched up that's a bit more work. Either way let me know I may be able to give you a hand.

Thanks for your offer to help me out. I contacted the cue maker who worked on the shafts and he's going to put the finish on the shafts for me.

SCCues, You obviously have a good cue maker taking care of you! I always tell everyone," If you have a problem or don't like something tell me, I'll make it right". If I don't know about it how can I make it right? Glad to hear it worked out for you.
