Joey does not us a tap,as i don't. We both bore our holes and then grind our threads. This is the best way.
Taps are pretty good, but can cause the wood to chip out, if not done carefully..
Do not know of a tap that's ever been made for cogs. You really don't need one, just grind the threads.

I have the tap. It's an undersized 7/16's X 11 with an acme twist.
do you know were i could buy the tap
