I have owned Tad,black,JW,Sw,TS, I have been looking for a good deal on a bender but the prices are really up there! i guess the days of the 500.00 hoppe butt blacks are gone :( Thats the problem too me, i cant stand having to pay 1000+ for a cue. I know Whaa Whaa :D
Now the bender is a good suggestion. And im trying to find a deal on one now. I will put out a plug (If you like the Sw style cue) for Bobby hunter's cues. Also like the motty, but like the wood on wood joints. Anyone need a 2 week buy back loan on tad or SW at 700? Guess not them days are gone too! ;)

Anyone with a good shape Bender thats not asking over sea's prices give me a pm.

"As well, there is a really hot mottey on ebay right now. ebony on ebony with hoppe ring for about 1100. If i iddint juts buy the bender i would dewfinitely bid on that."
Sorry but the guy has like 94% feedback and im not big on shooting 1200+ over seas.

Swami,
Is your name WILL?? If it is this is Erik... We talked a couple of times yesterday. You were asking me about Cokers. For custom cues, they are a good buy for the money... For less than $700, you can get a 6 point 3 veneer cue, 2 shafts with all the ringwork. Not too many cue makers offer that kind of prices anymore.

As for Mike Bender, his cues hit awesome. Mike's basic plain jane cue starts at $900. A 5 point, 4 veneer Bender starts at $1350. So as you can see, its not the cue dealers like me that are overcharging on the cues. We just list the retail prices set by the cue-makers. I have 5 Mike Benders for sale currently and they are all priced competitively....

Erik, i was not saying anything about your prices or offer's, matter of fact the only reason i called you was because the prices where very fair as far as i could see. Please dont think this was pointed at you.
But..... i must say if you could swing one of them Benders you have at around 600.00 then you would by all accounts be tops in my book, and would win top blue lighter 2005!

Jim,
I know your posts are not pointed towards me. I doubt you would find any brand new Benders for $600. His sneaky petes, which are rare, already goes for $450-$500. If you are looking for a steal on benders, check on ebay. Once in a great while, something would pop up that would fall into your price range.

I play with a Coker, have been for the last 3 years.

For stiffness, they're not as stiff as SW. I would categorize them as having a medium stiff hit. They offer great feedback and you can really spin the cb with a Coker. You don't need to exert too much energy to hit the cb. I would say my Coker's the best cue i've hit with, but that's totally my own opinion. For playability wise, they're definately worth more than what you're paying for.

Stiff Hit, Affordable, Bought Cue Components

Anyone play with a coker cue?
How do they play, Im looking for a stiff cue (SW) style hit
Is the wood aged the RIGHT way, is he buying parts?
ect ect any info woud be great!

This reply is from a very biased Coker dealer...

Coker has a stiff hit--- If there is ever any complaint, it usually that it is too stiff for a particular player. If you like a stiff hit, you will like Coker. Since the hit is stiff, I usually recommend using a medium tip to compensate.

The standard Coker pro-taper hit is stiff, however, the shaft is not...the shaft has a great deal of action.

The Tom Coker Conical taper is very stiff...perfect for those that do not play with a great deal of English or whom play 3-cushion.

Cokers are affordable. Tom keeps overhead low and he is watches every penny. He does not maintain a website and doesn't spend a dime on marketing. Tom's focus is providing affordable spliced cues with handsome index rings in the $550-1000 price range. Tom want his cues to be played with...he has no interest in supplying cues that sit in closet collections.

Tom purchases the various veneer material on the points. The points and index rings are fabricated 100% in house.

Tom is a perfectionist. He makes a cue exactly how he likes a cue to hit in the price range that he considers to be affordable for most pool players.

Andy Gilbert

What makes Andy's cues unique is he does not use the same joint all the time--all use 3/8-10 but some are ivory, steel, or wood to wood (phenolic)--that will impact the hit tremendously--SW, Bender, kershenbrock DPK, all use 3/8-11 wood to wood which is what makes the hit so solid (and their proprietary construction techniques :-) ) Anyway--get a nice Gilbert wood to wood if you want a solid cue (and not soo hard like a SW, just enough with a little feedback) Dont get me wrong there is nothing, I mean nothing like the "tink" of a southwest.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I have a quick question for you: How stiff was your Gilbert cue's hit compared to a Schon? I prefer the piloted-SS joint's stiff hit, and I'm in the middle of discussions with A.Gilbert agent Jeff regarding my next cue...
