getting a deal for sponsorship from Meuller's. Here is the article from the front page of AZ.

He deserves it, he is a CLASS ACT;)

Gabe Owen Signs with Mueller Recreational Products!

Lincoln, Nebraska – Mueller Recreational Products proudly announces that 2004 U.S. Open Winner, Gabe Owen has signed on with their company as his sponsor. With many successes under his belt, Gabe Owen has been featured on the front magazine covers of Billiard Digest and Professor-Q-Ball’s National Pool & Carom News, as well as coverage in other trade Magazines.

Hot on the road to success, Gabe Owen hails from the Midwest. Learning to play pool at the young age of 14, Gabe has been earning a living playing pool since he was only 17 years old. Since that time he has gone onto with the 2004 U.S. Open Championship, the 2004 Midwest Open One Pocket Championship in Chicago and is the two time Corpus Christi 9-ball Champion of 2003-2004. Gabe was also a member of the Mosconi Cup Championship Team in 2004. Some of Gabe's more recent wins, include 2005 Winner of the U.S. Open 8-Ball Tournament at Reno, NV, 2005 Winner of the Texas State 9-Ball Open at Austin, TX, 2005 Winner of the Carolina One Pocket Open and 2005 winner of the Houston 9-Ball Open.

"We are really excited about sponsoring Gabe Owen," stated Rory Mueller, President of Mueller Recreational Products. "Gabe, is not only a great player, with huge potential, but also an outstanding individual. We believe he is an inspiration to other young players and sets a good example by his standards both on and off the table. We've introduced a new cue line under his name this year, The Gabe Owen Cue Line featured on the back of our new 2005/2006 Catalog."

Keep an eye on this guy! Gabe Owen's his name, and pool is definitely his game! For more information on Mueller Recreational Products Catalog and the Gabe Owen Cues, please visit Muellers online at Muellers.com or call 1-800-627-8888.

I've known Gabe for a long time and can honestly say that he is one of the players that can truly "breathe fresh air" into this sport. He's not only a great player but seems to have a solid foundation that will keep him focused on where he wants to go (a product of good parenting skills, no doubt;) ). I predict him to be one of the more recognizable players on the IPT. Good luck Gabe and Congrats on your sponsorship!

In case he didn't see it, I called Gabe in Puerto Rico and told him about your posts. Someone else had already called him about it too. I know he's proud to be sponsored by Mueller, and enjoys working with Rory and the others from that company very much, and giving it his best at tournaments.
Thanks for the compliments! I tried to give him a good jump start years ago, but it's also since been so many wonderful people in the pool world (pros, friends, business people, and AZB!!) that have lent a hand to helping him in his career.
I'm glad he has wonderful friends and billiard professionals support in many areas out there, as many of you on AZB are to him.
Thanks again!
Kathy

I see ....

I see they opted to say from the 'Midwest' instead of Wichita
and Tulsa ... lol
Gabe is the type of player that Pool needs, like it was said,
He is a class act. But, he wasn't making too much of a living
when he was 17, because I was still giving him the 7 then ... lol
18-20 was when Gabe really went up in speed in his game.

I'm sure you did give him the 7 Scott!! He was really struggling to keep faith in having any kind of wins in this sport at that age, haha. I have a few videos from some Rumors tournaments, one is where he got drilled by McCready. We may have you on some videos and I just don't know it. We'll have to look.
I had a talk with him again this week about 'where he's from', haha! I told him your thoughts about that subject! (again) I guess since he's a 'house pro' there now is why he's saying Jacksonville. Oh well.

I hate to say this ...

Yes, I played in all the big 'Rumors' tournaments, so I am probably in there somewhere. I hate to say this in public (as I have received so many comments over the years), but I am the one that resembles Mick Jagger, only better looking, and without the lips ... lol
