Controlling Whitey... a sad story...

I play in the 9-Ball tournament here at Diamonds almost every Tuesday. Part of the $12 entry ($2 of it) goes to a 9-Ball Break contest where two players are picked to break for the 9-Ball Break contest.

I was picked last night... and I broke and made the 9-Ball! As you can guess from the title, it ended sadly... I let whitey loose and after a few bounces on the table, it was knocked off the table by another ball...

The Break Pot was about $300! :(

Just sharing my pain! :p

I feel your pain. Similar thing happend to me in a weekly 8 ball tourny last night. It's always disappointing to make a great shot and then let whitey get away from you and screw things up.

Better luck next time.

We have a similar thing going here in some of our tourney rooms in NorCal with jackpots of anywhere between $500 to $12,000. The same thing happened to me 3 times. I proposed to the tour directors that these types of incidents should be rewarded 2X the jackpot prize if whitey drops in a pocket (not jump off the table). Think about it, what are the odds that s breaker can make the 9-ball and the cuebal into a pocket after the breakshot. It sure as heck much lower than just making the 9-ball.

The same pocket or just sink them both?
