Convert OB shaft to break shaft?

I inherited an OB classic shaft with a cracked ferrule as a throw in with a cue. It has the same pin as my old cue, and I'm wondering if the shaft can be converted into a break shaft with a new ferrule that I could use with my old cue? (And would it be wise to do so?)

NO!!! it was not made to be a breaker, and already has a cracked ferrule.....do the math.....
