Can a BK2 shaft be converted to a playing shaft?

Is it possible to remove the hard tip and put a soft/med tip on it to play?

I don't use my BK2 anymore for breaking but I did play using just the butt for awhile and I love the stiffness of the BK2 shaft.

If its possible are there any recommendations on who to do it? The expo is around the corner but I do seem to like a local cue guy named Joe young who has a place about an hour from me.

Could I do it myself? The tip is pretty hard so I don't know what I would use to remove it. I have done my own tips but not sure if I'm ready to conquer this task without professional equipment.

As a side note. A girl at my local room has the new predator jump and the butt is finished in a matte type whatever. It's super smooth. Could a shaft be finished in the matte process? I use a glove bc of sweaty hands but this matte finish is very slick.

Yes a bk2 shaft can be converted to as playing shaft. Honestly all you will have to do is change tips. you may be able to remove the existing tip (depending on what it is made out of) using a razor knife. If it is the original tip Im guessing it will be slightly harder. I myself have never tried to remove a phenolic resin tip using a knife i have always just used a lathe to take them off.

You can do this at home but if you are asking I am guessing you porobably shouldnt try. This is rather easy task for most repair guys and they can usually bang it out in about 15 minutes tops.

If you have a local guy that can do it and you trust him i would say go for it with him. short of that wait for the expo if you want.

As far as finishing the shaft in a matte finish, I would think that would be counter productive but i gues if it is what you want anything could be done. Ive never seen it done but that doesnt meen it cant.

I would suggest taking it to your local guy and asking him. most of this stuff is pretty straight forward.
