Knoxville Tennessee has a proud history of billiard ownership.
Billiards saved people during the civil war. Quantifying that with evidence will take more effort.

1867 billiard saloons and baseball are discussed as the primary organizational structures of the time for both union and confederates.

Historian does great job with finding primary sources of billiards and baseball activity during the 1860s.

14.1 can be described as the most controversial World Championship, the first major billiard title in America, or one of the first original American sports endorsed by the US military as early as the Civil War.

If the structure of US military spilled into the BCA or the pro pool scene or New York pool culture its possible to say, there is a public face to the pool scene and then there are the stake horses and backers with no public face.

I suspect my theories are worth mentioning because I am a mathematician that studied in the Brooklyn Navy yards area for 15+ years. I was also a pool player for many of those years.

The idea of simulations and billiards perfectly fits some of the most innovative mathematics of nonpartisan research groups.

Who else can design pool table equipment? Its a community with the perfect mix of asymmetry.
