Copywriting a game question

I hope someone out there can help me.

As some of you know I've come up with a new type of rotation.

I'd like to copyright the name but also the rules of the game.

Is this possible? I went on line and it appears that you can only copyright the name.

Anyone know how to do this?

Copyright, not copywrite.

If you publish the rules in any form, you have an automatic copyright on your product, if memory serves.

I don't think you have any sort of copyright claim if you just have the rules rattling around in your head and you share them verbally with folks.

As far as the name itself, I think you're getting copyright confused with trademark.
