Corey Deuel is the new U.S. National Snooker Champion

Congratulations, Corey Deuel. A very impressive display of snooker. His technical capability was apparent from early on, but to succeed in snooker requires more than just the physical aspect. As he gathered experience, he very quickly learned how to play "the game" so that his shot selection became appropriate and his execution was a joy to watch.

Congratulations also to Sargon Isaac, an excellent and deserving player and a wonderful personality as well. His "usual" game was simply thrown off by Corey's confidence and ability so that he was unable to bounce back to form in the time allotted.

Sargon will certainly remain a dominant player in US Snooker for a long time to come and I hope that Corey decides to continue his education in our fine pastime. They are both a pride to US Snooker.

There has been some discussion on the main forum as to how snooker overseas is more lucrative than pool. I was wondering what the payout was for first and second in this tournament. Maybe more American pool players will follow Corey's lead.
Thanks
T

Actually it payed less than regional tours here in the states. It payed about $1000 & entry into world amateurs. Also Corey has no plans on attempting to play professional snooker.
