It might be new for Corey but not new in pool. That break (or maybe the 3rd ball) is common on BB and usually makes the 8 ball in the side pocket opposite the breaker. If indeed you are referring to the break other have mentioned here is I think the best view of it that I know of

Yeah, old stuff. Can be found in a number of books. What Corey did however, was to find a pattern rack where all his opponents balls were clustered and his balls were spread nicely. At least, I think the pattern rack was Corey's invention.
