Coring a Lucasi butt

I have a Lucasi cue that I really like, at least when I'm using a Predator or OB-1 shaft with it. I am wondering if it would make any sense to have someone core the butt of the cue. It was a present from my wife and I intend to keep it forever, so I'd like to minimize the chance that the butt will warp.

well, I'm not a cuemaker, but I'm pretty sure that lucasi cues have a metal bolt that attaches the handle to the forearm and possibly the buttsleeve to the handle. Coring cue may be difficuly with the bolts there, and removing those bolts will probably alter the balance significantly. I would say just try to take good care of it and keep it in a climate controlled environment away from moisture/humidity.

good luck

Hi Bill,
Cues that are cored are cored before they are assembled.
Any attempt at coring a completed cue would certainly end in disaster. Lucasi is a fine cue for the money and with reasonable care should serve you well for a long time. KJ

I'm going to leave it as it is

Thanks for the thoughtful replies! I realized, as I read them, that it would make no sense to attempt to core the butt of the cue.

Compaired to custom made cues the Lucasi cue is not expensive.
If you really like it and want to have it forever buy four and stick them in your closet. I doubt you would out live the 4 cues unless you treated them badly.
