Can I have a finished/completed/played with 2 year old cue cored to make it lighter ? - and if so, what would be the maximum amount of weight that could be taken out without effecting the structural integrity of the cue ? - one of the cues that I am wanting to have cored is cocobolo the other is ebony. Thanks, Ghost

Depends on the cue but offhand I would say if it was done there would be very little effect. When coring a cue the prong is what is cored, the handle, which runs from into the prong to the far end of the cue is usually Maple. Most cues also have a metal screw between the handle and the prong. It sure wouldn't affect the weight much to bore out the maple handle just to replace it with more maple. Since that bolt is in there you can't bore past it to get to the prong where the extra weight is. You could bore from the pin end but it would be a bit of work as the pin and joint would need replaced and then the joint and shafts refitted and probably refinished.
