Any suggestions for polishing or refinishing corner and side pocket caps? Seems to be bronze metal. Badly tarnished.
Tried Braso, copper polish and others without luck.
May contact metal plating service to see about sand blasting of chemical bath?
Brunswick GC 3 table.
thank you

Don't know. Bought thru Classic Billiards as replacement. Want to refinish tarnished hardware and resell.
They're most likely plated if they're from Classic. You can try a buffing wheel on the original castings but those were notorious for losing their plating. It's very unlikely they will clean up well enough to sell.

The original pot metal castings need to be replated or trashed, the plating comes off with vigorous hand scrubbing

thanks for suggestions. Is it worth coating new with spray lacquer to keep from tarnishing?

the new corners are from Classic. Old is original from Brunswick 1987? GC 3

anyone have estimate of what metal plating costs for project like this?
Depends on where you are located but it isn't inexpensive. First, you have to find a shop willing to deal with cast metals as some won't. I'd estimate $200-$400, potentially more if the prep is laborious. I believe the originals were bronze plated.

I'd defer to Ken as Classic because he most likely has knowledge of exactly what was done to them. It's possible they are already coated with something.

The real question here is why aren’t we arguing about them being called “caps” or “pocket castings”.

Remember 2 days ago the “felt” or “cloth” war?

This seems like a very similar topic we could all argue about. We can’t let this opportunity to argue go past us and lose our reputation!

I’m on the “pocket casting” side of this one.

Best
