Can cracks in butt caps be repaired and if not can you just refinish over them? Will that be enough to keep it from cracking more. I think the material in delrin?

delrin doesnt really crack. without pics its hard to tell. maybe replace. finish doesnt stick to delrin. really need pics to see. what type of cue

its the one in my avatar, its a 1993 JOSS, it has two small cracks in the butt cap and I can't replace it it has the year and the number of the stick, etc.

well. maybe you can just cut the crack out if the bottom. how long are they. if there is a finish over it now it isnt delrin

byw call danny janes. maybe he can replace and inlay the name again...

As mentioned already the original maker is usually the best bet.It looks like they will do it for about 75.00.

id call danny. set something up he can make it like new and orginals again. truth is. its not worth alot so if you get another maker to fix it you wont be hurting much. inother words if danny wants 100$ and 4-6 months and someone else wants 40$ and a week, pay the 40$

If It's cracked or chipped then My guess is It probably isn't delrin, but as mentioned replacing a butt cap is a pretty basic repair. I would always first recommend to someone to have the original maker do the work, but on a scale to 10, I would put the job somewhere in the 5 range or maybe even lower. As far as stopping any cracks, for what It would take to try to do that, IMHO you might as well have It replaced. It doesn't take that much more labor to do It right. Finish work Is probably the most time consuming.
