Crown Cues Opinions?????

My son was asking me about Crown Cues he saw on ebay.

After viewing the auction and Crown Cues website http://www.crowncues.biz/ .

Their cue look well design and the price very reasonable for the quailty of cue you're getting. I also noticed that Terry Miller was playing with a Crown Cue. Since I haven't play with this cuemaker cue. I would like AZ'er opinion,especially if you have play with one or own one, on their hit and design. I wonder its the cue would be a good investment?

I have one and it hits good and looks good and the crown he uses on most of his cues is a nice touch, I have seen one of his cues with the crown shape at every spot a,b,c,d,e, like ringwork almost and it was awesome. The prices are great for custom cues.

I like the cue you posted a link to. I also like the 'estimator' tool he has on his sight for custom builds. Now, this might just be me and my particular flavor, but I do not like his MULLET or the dye job in his hair. :)
 
I see he a member of ICA [ International Cuemaker Association]. Have any Az'er from "Tulsa,OK" area, play or hit with a Crown Cue?
 
happy with crown cue

Hi, I own a crown cue. It hits good, has a nice balance, finish is good.
For a very inexpensive cue they are great,
Best of all is there customer service. for a small cue maker they go way beyond to make people happy. gene is a good cuemaker

I believe that's an old photo from his pool league days. He's got short hair, now.
 
I have two beautiful Crown Cues. Both are well-balanced and hit more solid than any other cue I've had.
 
I noticed on Crown Cues webpage some cues have only shaft collar, both shaft & butt collars, or just butt collar.

Poolcuemaster, Cuetip2, or JesPiddlin which cue type [ collar design] do you use and if you know what the different is in their hit.

PROG8R that was a nice looking cue on ebay. I think my son made a mistake not bidding on it. He didn't say if it was for him or one of his APA team mate!

This is *just* my opinion...

I think the phenolic or wood collar at the joint adds little or no actual difference to the hit.

I believe the metal insert for the pin has more influence on the actual hit (and may actually add a little front weight to the cue, too). I think the metal pin -to- wood threads creates more of an absorption and metal-to-metal creates MAYBE more punch, because it is less giving. It may actually create a slight difference in sound, also.

I also believe that a lot of folks who think metal collars hit different may not realize that most metal collars are rather heavy, therefore creating more of a front-weighted cue, which some people actually find to work better for them. If you have a fairly reliable hit, you probably don't really need that extra front weight. I find I have a lot more control when the cue doesn't want to continue going, when I'm trying to stop it.

It is very easy for folks to have ideas they believe in so fully that it makes a difference in their game, too. Many folks do a great con job on themselves, but that con job can easily make or break their game. A lot of folks might find that a change in the collar or joint style may actually help their game, if they're open to the possibilities.

So, I believe you have weight differences, impact absorption factors, and possibly even sound that contributes to what a player likes best. I have found that I really like the phenolic or wood collars, but having no collar has a really nice feel to it, too. I used to be a big fan of the metal collars, but have determined that my best game is not with front weight.

As I said, this is just my personal opinion.
