Cue ball lines

So, I'm stationed in Japan right now... I've been working with a Japanese instructor, and his English is pretty limited. But, I have seen some improvements. I've ironed out my stroke, english, and speed control. What I'm having problems with now is my position play, mainly in seeing the cueball path line. I've been watching videos on youtube, and I've gotten some help from some friends, but I still can't judge what line the cueball is going to take once it hits the object ball. Any suggestions?

Practice caroms.

Carom to other balls or carom to the pockets.

A good game is using the CB + 1, 2, and 3 ball only and spotted at head middle and foot spot.

Every shot requires a carom. If you pocket a ball and the required carom you score 1point for the carom and the value/number of the pocketed ball. If you scratch you loose your run points. Pocketed balls go back to their spot before the next shot.

Simple and will REQUIRE you to concentrate and visualize the CB path.

i agree, i practice that a lot and its a big help...you will see the scratch now at least

Stop Shots!!!!!

Set up the same shot (with angle) and shoot this shot 10 times with a pure stop shot. Mark your cue ball route each time. Now shoot 10 shots with follow then draw.....SPF=randyg

use your cuestick to draw a line behind the OB perpendicular to the pocket. that's the path the cueball will go.

Hi I would look to what the other people here are telling you about Caroms they will really help you work out where your CB is going after contacting another ball. When I first took up playing snooker in the UK all the older guys helping us along told us playing billiards, similar to Carom would help us with CB positioning. They were absolutley right, it doesn't matter how good a potter you are, you need CB control. The easier the pots you leave yourself the more balls you'll pot. It's also a great help in breaking balls out too.
