I would suggest holding on to your current cue if you can. Money is a b###h every now and then, we all know that. Think about the total profit made by flipping your cue to a cheapo that needs joint rebuild. Lucasis arent the most expensive cues out there, and their value is near non existant when used, atleast here in Finland.
Just guessing here as I dont know your exact model of the cue, but for just the butt you may get somewhere around 300 if its a higher end one or 150-200 for a basic model.
Then to get a new one you'll have spend a hundred for a cheapo butt. Add the joint work (50+ here), and you end up with about a hundred bucks in your pocket and a cue that no longer is the high quality one that you are familiar with, but a cheap salvage modified to meet your needs.
And I'm pretty sure that your Lucasi will hold up and stay straight for the next decade. Not so sure about the cheapest thingies out there.
Of course if you dont have any choice then you just need to sell, but I'd look for other options first.
If I were in your shoes, in need of cash and opted to sell pool stuff I'd start by selling my jump cue, then the spare set of balls, guests cues and then the break cue (that would be bitter though). I will not under any realistic circumstances sell my playing cue. Its the one for me, and im not letting it go voluntarely
