i have been playing on and off since i was a kid but i decided to try to get a little more serious so i bought a new stick, i got a predator sp w/ 314 shaft, this is my second stick, the first was a cuetech so i used their cleaning solution to clean it. my question is what do you guys reccomend to clean my stick.

also do i need joint protectors? i really want to make sure this stick lasts forever so its a small price it they are needed but i wasnt sure if i need them

thanks,
nick

Iam not sure about the cuetec cleaning solution cleaning a wood shaft. They do have things like Q-clean that i know works well on my 314 shaft. I bought joint protectors to have. I never had a problem with the joints before, but figured why not get em in case if i drop the cue on the joint or something when screwing it together.

Also, have fun playing pool. I decided to take my game more seriously a couple of years ago and since then, it's an addiction literally. I surround my life with it, and i actually work the cost of pool time etc, into my monthly expenses. read thread "you know you're addicted to pool if..." Then you'll see what you are in for!! :D

i missed two classes (college) today because i got into some games and didnt want to leave so i know what you mean about getting addicted. do you guys use like the Q solutions or i have heard just use an old piece of leather?

on the predator website (i always try to listen to the manufacturer, like whe i work on my toyota, you want to listen to the japanese nerd engineers who designed every little part of that car), i believe under customer service, it says to use rubbing alchohol. it sounds scary to me, i just rub it with leather or a towell, but thats what they say.

I burnished my Predator shaft with "Nick's Edge" burnishing films and then sealed it with "Q-Slick". That got it nice and smooth...then after every couple of times at the table, it's only my break cue, I use "Pledge Furniture Polish" on it. The Pledge cleans and seals, good enough for the grand piano, couldn't hurt the BK. Make sure you get the regular formula, some have extra oils in them that will cause you to start the process over...trial and error I say! ;)
