Cue connection won't stay tight

Hello everyone
I have a Mcdermott cue with a wood to wood joint. It seems that after a short while of playing, the connection becomes a little loose and I have to keep screwing it back together tight. Is there a quick fix for this, to make the threads tighter and stay tight? It's a pretty new cue and I don't know of any reason why it would be so loose like this. I actually have a few other Mcdermott cues and they all seem to screw together with a little too much slack. Any suggestions for a tighter fit? Thanks for any help!

no way would i ever have another wood to wood jointed cue. i have had 3, both custom and production, and everyone of them has the same problem. they just keep coming loose, i dont know what to tell you jema.

I really don't think this is your problem, but I'll mention it anyway. I was having that trouble with a cue I was using some years ago. I mentioned it to a friend. He said 'let me see it'. I gave it to him, he took it apart and put it back together and 'try it now'. I played for a few hours and it didn't come loose at all. When I went to take it apart I found out what he did because I had just a little trouble getting it apart. He said when he took it apart he could tell that I hadn't put it together tight enough. From then on I gave it the old 'extra firm' when I put it together and never had any more problems with it.

The cue I have now I don't have to give the 'extra firm' to and it says together just fine. I guess some need to be put together a little tighter than others.

Couple of problems it could be. Like Capt said your not tighten it enough. Or you made it to tight and screwed up the threads in the shaft. OR threads not put in correctly. Thats about it. Did it ever tighten up enough?? If it did and now you magically cant get it to get tight then you Torqued it too much one time and now your screwed. I have 3-3/8-10pin cues I like the hit and I never have had a problem.Had and old McDermott that I would mess around with and I torqued the hell out of that once I did that I could screw the shaft on but it would not be tight in fact it would wobble a little.
