None of those look anything like the cue Michael Webb is restoring. No signature, wrong buttplate, wrong bumper, wrong points, wrong joint rings, wrong everything. I'm willing to bet these didn't come with a brass joint pin.

All the best,
WW
I know, I was just showing old Taiwanese made point work near the handle. Some gaps are tighter than others. His cue has the cheesy bumper and the joint collar looks to be made from poor quality plastic.

I actually just found a Competition brand cue at a thrift store a few days ago that has the same point work with the same veneer color combo.

None of these have the bumper or the point work or inlays that the cue Michael is working on. Or anything else. Take a good look at the bumper for starters. That's your first clue.

All the best,

The handle looked like rosewood. Butt cap was threaded on. Big course thread but it was tapered backwards. I think someone else worked on this at some point which just makes it more interesting to follow behind. Bumper is just a push in with no weight bolt hole.

So not tapped for a weight bolt, wide cheap style bumper, poorly done brass pilot with a brass 5/16x18 pin.

sure sounds like a Taiwanese special.

I tried to talk him out of restoring it but it was still fun.

Just my $.02 but that wrap color/texture just doesn't go with that cue. Smooth black 'bushka-syle would have looked better. Great re-finish job.
